ATOMIC
Magazine said goodbye to Old Man Winter last week with a Vintage
Lingerie Party at Opaline,
a sultry subterranean restaurant and lounge in Manhattans
East Village. The three hour event on March 7, 2000 featured swing
music by Philadelphia DJ Smilin Buddha Joe; free vodka cocktails,
compliments of Grey Goose Vodka; and a vintage lingerie fashion
show.
The
party's theme was inspired by the seven-page vintage lingerie
spread in the current issue of ATOMIC Magazine, photographed
by Bill Phelps. "We wanted to do something special to celebrate
our Winter issue and also the coming of Spring. What better
way to welcome the warm weather than by taking it all off!"
commented Editor and Co-publisher Leslie Rosenberg.
The
event attracted guests from several major advertising agencies
and photography studios, as well as publications like the New
York Times, SHOUT magazine, and The Village Voice. The ten minute
fashion show was the highlight of the evening, as seven local
swing girls (and one gutsy guy) strutted their stuff across
the stage in an array of sultry underthings provided by Atomic
Passion and Alice Underground. The real-life models proved that
lingerie was made for curves, and the crowd loved every lustful
minute.
