The
Ray Gelato Giants
The Men From Uncle
Fathers,
lock up your daughters! Husbands, watch out for your wives! The
spirit of Louis Prima walks the earthand his name is Ray Gelato.
Gelato
and his Giants have had a loyal following across the Atlantic
for several years, and it's no wonder. On their latest release,
The Men From Uncle, the boysbang out some fabulous swing
and jump blues classics, and also rediscover some lesser-known
tunes. You may recognize tracks like "Angelina Zooma Zooma"
(Prima's
version can be heard in the film Analyze This) and "T'uo
Fo L'Americano," which was sued in a recent TV spot for
Levi's Dockers. But Ray does some great original work too: His
"Given' Up Given' Up" casts scorn on finger-wagging
nags and encourages the listener to enjoy the good life, while
the title track is a roaring big band instrumental that lets every
member of the Giants shine.
All
of these tunes are finger-snappin' good, and there are a few that
will get you on the floor too. Who needs ice cream when you can
have Gelato?
